PROMOTING INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING & FRIENDSHIP
Cultural Gateways, Inc. (CGI) was founded in 1987 to bridge international understanding and friendship through English programs, cultural activities and homestay programs. Whether choosing a program to enhance your English, increase your college entrance exams, or experience American culture you will find CGI has the perfect program.
Bringing mutual understanding between cultures is the goal for all our programs. Despite different languages, backgrounds and cultures, we are not so different from one another in our hopes, dreams and our desires.
A closer look at the people who make Cultural Gateways a reality through their dedication and hard work:
Timelle & Andy Rosen
We have been working with international cultures for over 25 years. We both have lived in other countries and believe understanding other cultures helps make the differences among us smaller. We love learning about others and their unique culture. Timelle has a degree in International Relations and Andy a degree in Personal Fitness. We currently both also work full time in education. It is heart to others experience the wonderful friendships and memories we have through cultural exchanges programs and homestays.
Host Family Coordinator
My name is Anna Sherrett-Ouattara and I am the Host Family Coordinator for Cultural Gateways. Before returning to Oregon with my husband, I was a missionary in West Africa for four years. The opportunity I had to live in a different country taught me that learning about another culture is an important tool in education. That is why I am so thankful to be apart of how Cultural Gateways is using this tool with Japanese students. Outside of my duties as Host Family Coordinator, my 3-year-old daughter is my greatest joy and I spend most of my day with her. I am also a student myself. I decided to go back to school after a 10-year break! Traveling and learning about other cultures is my favorite thing to do. Since my husband is from Burkina Faso, we speak French at home, and we enjoy making our own culture which is a mix of Burkinabe and American traditions!
Program Coordinator/ESL Teacher
I graduated from Vanguard University with a degree in Sports Science: Teaching/Coaching and have a Master’s Degree in Science: Special Education from Western Oregon University. I have taught for 13 years and supported families whose children struggle to learn in the typical ways. I love my family, traveling, cooking and having pets.
Robert is our program coordinator in Medford, Oregon. He has his associates in Church Ministry Leadership from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington. He spent 7 years as the youth pastor at Path Church in Central Point. Robert and Brittany have been married since 2012 and have three kids together (Ryder, Hayden, and Ellie). Robert is currently operating his family’s two pizza restaurants in Southern Oregon.
